Pastor Bryant S. Townsend is a native of the state of Virginia. He learned as a child how to reverence and fear God. While attending college, Pastor Townsend gave his life to God.
Under the firm but loving guidance of his pastor, Superintendent Larry C. Miles, he became an active member in the church and was taught how to live a life that was pleasing to God through fasting and prayer.
Most importantly, he learned through the example of his pastor’s daily life how to show unconditional love to God’s people.
He attended Virginia Commonwealth University and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Psychology. He entered the United States Air Force after graduating college. In 1994 he received orders and was stationed in Mountain Home, Idaho. After his enlistment ended in 1997, he continued his studies at Boise Bible College. On January 10, 1999, Pastor Townsend opened the doors of Agape Christian Worship Center with six (6) members and no outside financial support. Three (3) months later in April 1999, he married the beautiful Tanisha McRae. The Townsend’s are the proud parents of Joy Brealle Townsend.
Pastor Townsend has a heart for today’s youth and is well versed in youth ministry and counsel. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force; Pastor Townsend was employed by Ada County Courts as a Juvenile Detention Officer. During his employment, his passion grew for youth and he realized people needed a place to worship freely as well as a place where they would be accepted and molded. Although he now serves at his local church on a full-time basis; Pastor Townsend continues to work part-time as a youth specialist for the Idaho Youth Ranch Emancipation Home and volunteers as a counselor for the Fast Track Program with the Department of Juvenile Corrections Nampa; which is a twelve (12) step drug rehabilitation program for young people. He is frequently called on to speak at youth events across the country and regularly serves as a speaker and praise leader at a the Cathedral Pines Baptist Church Camps. In 2008, he served as the Director of Youth for the Music and Arts Seminar Conference led by Bishop Walter Hawkins and Dr. Edwin Hawkins.
Pastor Townsend is active in his local community. He was the host of Unlimited Praise Gospel Radio Show on 94.1 KBXL Idaho. He also served as a member of the Vision Team for Mission Media. Pastor Townsend holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Bachelors Degree in Biblical Studies from Boise Bible College and is currently pursing his Masters in Social Work at Northwest Nazarene University.
Even though his personal accomplishments, accolades and awards are many, Pastor Townsend simply wants to be known and remembered as a man with a heart to love and serve God’s people. He is known for his approachable style and his way of delivering God’s word in a scholarly but practical format. His personal motto is, “I am not responsible for how others treat me, I am only responsible for how I treat others.”
